Forget the snoozefest that was Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather. Last night we got back to real boxing with the middleweight Championship bout between Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland. Instead of standing off, the two went for one another right from the first bell, fighting back and forth. That was until the third round when Alvarez dispatched Kirkland with brutal efficiency.
As HBO commentator Roy Jones Jr., who also called the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, put it: “You got a boxing match last week … This was a fight.”
