Two Murderers Escape From Prison. Police Are Baffled By The Note They Leave Behind

19807

When convicted murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat were found missing from their cell in Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York last week, police couldn’t understand the strange note they left behind. The criminals escaped on Saturday, fooling prison guards into thinking they were asleep in their cells by arranging clothing into the shape of humans. When their absence was revealed, a two hundred officer manhunt began to track the men down.

It was later discovered that Sweat and Matt (pictured above) had used power tools to drill through the wall of their cell, and had then crawled through a series of pipes before smashing their way through one of them to reach a manhole in the street in a scene reminiscent of the 1994 Tim Robbins movie, The Shawshank Redemption. When police came across the pipe, this note was pinned to it:

The police and prison authorities were baffled not only by how two convicted murderers had managed to get hold of power tools and bore through a prison wall without anyone hearing them or noticing anything, but also couldn’t understand the note or why it was left behind.
