An adult fan — historically male, though the label has broadened — of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and its spinoffs. Defined as much by the community (conventions, fan art, OCs, podcasts) as by the show itself. Female-identifying fans often use 'pegasister' instead.

Origin & Usage

Portmanteau of 'bro' and 'pony'. Coined on 4chan's /co/ board around 2010 after the launch of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, when the show unexpectedly picked up a huge adult male following. The fandom went mainstream weird-internet from there.
