Who These Terms Cover

By visiting, reading, or using ThugBible.com in any way — including submitting words, voting, commenting, or creating an account — you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, don't use the site. These terms apply to all users everywhere in the world.

Age and Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to register an account. If you're between 13 and 17, you represent that a parent or guardian has read these terms and given permission for you to use the site. Mature content on ThugBible is gated behind an 18+ confirmation. By clicking through that gate, you confirm you're 18 or older. If you're registering on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

What "User Content" Means

User Content is anything you submit to ThugBible: word definitions, example sentences, etymologies, FAQs, comments, votes, and any other contributions. You're responsible for everything you post. ThugBible is a platform for community-contributed slang — we are not the author of User Content and we don't endorse it.

Your License to Us

You keep ownership of what you submit. By posting User Content on ThugBible, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, display, reproduce, adapt, distribute, and include your content in compilations — including the ThugBible dictionary itself — for as long as the site operates and beyond, as is standard for a reference work of this kind. This license covers everything needed to run, maintain, back up, and promote ThugBible, and to make the dictionary available in whole or in part through third parties. You waive any claim that this use requires further permission or payment.

What You're Promising When You Post

By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that: you own the content or have all the rights needed to grant the license above; the content doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights; the content is lawful in your jurisdiction and ours; and the content complies with these terms and the Community Guidelines.

What's Prohibited

The full list lives in the Community Guidelines at /community-guidelines. In summary, the following will get content removed and accounts terminated: hate speech or content that dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other characteristic; harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of any person; doxxing — posting real names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or identifying photos of private individuals; sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form; illegal content; spam, bots, or vote manipulation; impersonating ThugBible, our team, or any other person or entity; and scraping or systematically extracting content for commercial or AI-training purposes (see below).

AI Scraping and Automated Access

Automated scraping, crawling, or data-mining of ThugBible content — for any purpose, including training AI or machine-learning models, building competing products, or bulk data collection — is expressly prohibited without prior written permission from us. We reserve all rights to use User Content submitted to the site for the purpose of operating and improving ThugBible, including improving search, editorial quality, and site features.

Our Right to Moderate

We can remove any content at any time for any reason, with or without notice, at our sole editorial discretion. We can suspend or permanently terminate any account that violates these terms or that we determine — for any reason — is harmful to the site or its community. We don't owe you a refund, compensation, or explanation for moderation decisions, though we do provide an appeals path (see below and the Community Guidelines).

Reporting Content and the Appeals Process

If you believe content on ThugBible violates these terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, report it via the Report button on any word or comment page, or email [email protected]. Full details are at /report.

If your content is removed or your account is actioned and you believe that was wrong, email [email protected] with your username and a brief explanation. We'll re-review and provide a statement of reasons. EU users have a right to this process under the Digital Services Act (Article 20) and may also escalate to an out-of-court dispute settlement body in their member state.

Content Moderation Transparency (DSA)

ThugBible is a hosting service under the EU Digital Services Act. We moderate content in accordance with these terms and the Community Guidelines. When we act on a report or remove content, we notify the affected account and explain why. Our enforcement ladder — warning, suspension, ban — is published in the Community Guidelines. We act expeditiously once we have knowledge of illegal content, as required by DSA Article 6.

Third-Party Services

ThugBible runs on infrastructure and services provided by third parties, including our hosting provider, Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., US) for email, and Google LLC for analytics. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for their actions, outages, or how they handle data beyond what we control as described in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer of Warranties

ThugBible is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Community-contributed definitions may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, or outdated — they reflect community opinion, not professional editorial opinion, and are not professional legal, medical, financial, or any other kind of advice. Use them accordingly.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThugBible and its operators, team members, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or its content, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or harm caused by content posted by other users. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the site is limited to fifty US dollars ($50) or the total of any fees you have paid to us (likely zero), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages — in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ThugBible and its operators, team members, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: your User Content; your use of the site; your violation of these terms; or your violation of any third party's rights. We reserve the right to take over the defense of any claim for which you owe us indemnification, at our expense, and you'll cooperate with our defense in that case.

Termination

We can suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings at /account. On termination, your license to use the site ends immediately. Content you've submitted may remain on the site after account deletion, as it forms part of the dictionary. If you want your submissions removed, email [email protected] and we'll review on a case-by-case basis.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. If we make material changes, we'll display a banner notice on the site for at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continuing to use ThugBible after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of ThugBible. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts or through the dispute-resolution mechanisms applicable under those laws.
