A dedicated burner phone — and by extension the entire drug-selling operation behind it — used to take orders from users in a provincial town. Owning 'a line' means controlling the number, the runners, the stash and the customer list; lines get bought, sold, robbed and inherited like small businesses.

“He's running his own line in Margate now, makes ten bags a day.”
