half A press
Counting a held-over A press as just 0.5 in SM64's A Button Challenge.
Definitions
In the A Button Challenge, an A press has three parts: pushing down, holding, and releasing. If you hold the button down from a previous level, that level only 'spends' part of the press, so it gets tallied as a half. That's how you get counts like 2.5x A presses.
The notation that broke the internet. A press you carried over from earlier counts as 0.5, which is why pannenkoek's video had to explain itself for a quarter hour.

How can an A press be half?
Because a press spans push-hold-release across level boundaries. If you only pay for part of it in a given level, it's counted as a fraction. The famous YouTube comment 'an A press is an A press, you can't say it's only a half' pushed back on exactly this.
