Definitions

1

A sarcastic refusal, delivered as a flat rhetorical question. Someone tells you to do something you have zero intention of doing, and you fire back 'will I, yeah' with deadpan disbelief. The 'yeah' is doing all the work — tonally somewhere between 'in your dreams' and 'go ask someone who cares'. Pure Dublin energy, but used nationwide.

“Lend you fifty quid till Friday? Will I, yeah.”

Lend you fifty quid till Friday? Will I, yeah.

Origin & Usage

Modern Irish English construction, popularised heavily by Dublin comedy and TV (think Mrs Brown's Boys, The Young Offenders era). The structure mirrors older Irish sarcastic question-as-refusal patterns.
