The Complete Gen Z Slang Dictionary

Every word running the internet right now — decoded, and credited to where it actually comes from.

Every generation invents its own code. Gen Z's just spreads faster — algorithm-fed, remixed in the comments, mutating by the week. This is the internet's actual, current vocabulary: the words showing up in your group chat, your For You page, and your little cousin's captions, decoded properly, with real definitions instead of guesses.

A lot of it isn't new at all. Plenty of the slang everyone credits to "TikTok" has been spoken for decades in Black American communities and LGBTQ+ ballroom culture, long before it went viral — we've broken that down properly in our AAVE origins piece and our ballroom culture piece. We credit that lineage wherever we know it.

Tap any word below for its full breakdown — pronunciation, origin, examples, the works.
